Listing Items for Sale:
Once a producer becomes a member, they have their own section of the website. Producers can describe their farm and add whatever items they produce to the shopping portion of the website, providing they abide by Co-op standards. Producers set their own prices. Once a producer has listed an item, they may unlist and relist at their will. The website allows for inventory control; it also keeps record of all past transactions. The ordering section of the website also facilitates the sell of variable wieght items.
The Ordering Cycle:
Customers, who are also members, shop online from Friday morning until Tuesday at midnight. On Wednesday morning, producers can visit lvfood.coop, log in, and see what orders they have. All items need to have two key pieces of information attached: the name of the customer it's for and the pick-up site it's going to. In order to make this easier, the website allows producers to print out this information in a simple format for each delivery cycle.
When pulling from their orders, producers need to enter in the weights for products which are priced by the lb.
Deliveries & Payment:
On Thursday, the items are delivered by noon to the distribution site. Some producers pool their items for delivery to the distribution site, thus limiting the amount of work for each individual producer. It is there that all items are sorted by volunteers and distributed throughout the Lehigh Valley.
Payment is either mailed to producers or given to them on the next Thursday.
